Planters II Fertilizer Application Rate

Simplify: One Step at a Time

Corn grown on the Planters II Agricultural Progam Did you know there are over 114 pairwise ratio combinations of essential nutrients for plants? Try balancing out those combinations one nutrient at time! That just does not make sense. Taking a soil sample, then trying to balance the soil by using organic material instead of chemical materials has you back on the same treadmill that you wanted off! The entire concept on organic/sustainable farming is lost. The concept of a live productive soil is replaced with the "prescription" method. Instead, is it better to have a simple program that produces results. Reduce costs, increase yields - learn more about the Planters II Agricultural Program.

Planters II Fertilizer is granulated for ease of use

There are two major misconceptions people have been taught about most "soil amendments" and mineral fertilizers. They are: mineral fertilizers need to be micropowderized, and that you have to apply by the ton. These are absolutely not true if you have a plant available mineral! Yes, if you are attempting to apply any old rock you may be powderizing the mineral in hopes microbial life will break it down faster, but you are still talking about at least two years before the minerals are plant available. Yes, you may be applying in tons when you are hoping to shock the pH and plant into production, but you are creating a mineral imbalance, which is nonsense.

We believe in using common sense. A granulated product is easier to apply. A plant available mineral only needs to be applied in small but sustainable amounts. As such, most people are surprised to learn the average agricultural application rate for Planters II Fertilizer is 250 lbs / acre.

Rebuilding / Build Up Program (250 - 450 lbs / acre)

We are constantly removing minerals from the living soil. This makes us both miners and farmers at the same time, but how often do we return these minerals to the soil? The Planters II Agricultural Program focuses on not only sustaining the minerals you remove from the soil, but builds a foundation of life in your soil for future generations all while reducing costs and increasing yields! To replenish removed minerals, we recommend applying roughly 250 lbs / acre to rebuild a mineral buffer in the soil until that buffer is built, then cut back to a sustaining rate. If you work on building up a strong living foundation, many farmers actually continue to cut back to even less, but that should be on as needed basis.

Sustaining - Broadcast Spreading (150-400 lbs / acre)

Depending on your crop, your standard mineral removal rate is usually 200-250 lbs / acre. As such, for a sustaining program (not a rebuilding), we recommend you start with 200 lbs and adjust based on the crop and year. On average, fruits require slightly higher applications, so it is best to start with 250-300 lbs. On average grains such as wheat require small amounts, so it is possible to start with 150-200 lbs. Remember, Planters II Fertilizer Will Not Burn. Additionally, the more applied the more it will help (up to a point). As such, if you can economically apply more, then it is best to do that.

Sustaining - Banding (150-200 lbs / acre)

For some crops (such as soy and corn), it is extremely beneficial to band Planters II Fertilizer into each row while seeding. It is even possible to blend Planters II with your seed if you have the right equipment. This causes Planters II Fertilizer to be focused around each seed resulting in minimal waste. In such cases, less can be used with greater results. As with broadcast spreading, adjust based on your crop type.

What About Home & Garden?

One Cup of Planters II is equal to 13.7oz. (0.85lbs)

  • Gardens:
Apply one pound for every 100 square feet. Scratch or water in.
  • House plants:
Apply one teaspoon for every 2-inches of container diameter.
  • Trees:
Apply at the rate of 6oz. per inch of tree diameter around the drip line of the tree, scratch or water in.
  • Turf and Lawn:
Apply at 7-8 lbs per 1000 square feet. Scratch or water in.

Replacing Lime, Gypsum or other pH Balancers (200-400 lbs / acre)

If you are following the Planters II Agricultural Program you should not need pH balancers. However, coming from a traditional farming & ranching program, your soil may be out of range of ideal growing conditions. Instead of applying your pH balancer, you may only need to apply Planters II Fertilizer and double your benefits. For example, if you are using the standard application of 4.5 tons of Lime every few years, you only need to use 300 lbs of Planters II during your Lime year. Why does Planters II Fertilizer work in pounds instead of tons? Plant available minerals that are pH Tolerant! What does that mean? It means even if your soil is 8.4 pH, Planters II minerals are still available to your plant! That means you balance the soil without causing mineral tie-up.

Reduce NPK Needs

Planters II Fertilizer does more than just feed your crop essential, critical minerals needed for growth. Those minerals also equate to performance, meaning your crops utilize NPK more effectively. That means it is possible to reduce your NPK requirements by usually 1/3 to 1/2 within the first year! Additionally, if you follow the Planters II Agricultural Program you may even be able to reduce to only the basic minimal requirements. Remember, the average producer has to increase his NPK every year to make up for a loss of minerals. Return those minerals to the crop, and see your benefit both financially and responsibly.
